SOLDIERS GROVE, WIS.–The Southwestern Lady Wildcats dispatched the River Ridge Timberwolves in straight sets, 25-13, 25-18, 25-9, on Thursday, Oct. 29, and advance to the sectional finals against the Royall Panthers.
GALENA–The Galena Pirates (7-4) were shut down by the rival Stockton Blackhawks (8-3) in a 34-2 rout as the Pirates’ season ended in the first round of the playoffs on Saturday, Oct. 31.
EAST DUBUQUE–The Galena Lady Pirates volleyball team set the school record for wins in a season with 34 after defeating the Durand Lady Bulldogs in straight sets, 25-13, 25-21, on Thursday, Oct. 29 for the East Dubuque Regional Title.
HANOVER–River Ridge’s (0-9, 0-8) bid to win their first game of the year came up short against the Durand Bulldogs (3-6, 3-5), as the Bulldogs made key plays late in the second half, and the officials made a key call early in the third quarter, to give Durand a blowout win on Friday, Oct. 23.
SCALES MOUND–It took three tense and back-and-forth games, but the River Ridge Wildcats eventually defeated the Scales Mound Hornets on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
BLOOMINGTON–Galena’s Kane Hyde, the Pirates' leading golfer all season, advanced to the IHSA class 1A state golf meet in Bloomington on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16 and 17.
