The Tri-County Chapter of the NorthWest Illinois Alliance of Realtors was pleased to support the City of Galena with a $5,000 National Association of Realtors (NAR) Placemaking Grant for the Galena Dog Park. The Galena Dog Park had its ribbon cutting on Thursday, June 15. Before the ribbon cutting, City Administrator Mark Moran mentioned several community members who helped make this dog park a reality. Some of these individuals include Christie Hensley, who helped with fundraising for the park, and Chris and Courtney Timp, who donated the land the dog park is built on. Moran also mentioned just a few of the over 60 people who donated to the dog park. Around $90,000 was collected. Moran said that there are four different areas in the dog park: an area for small dogs, large dogs, “dogs not quite ready for prime time” and a fenced-in wooded area that still needs to be developed.
