GALENA–Clifford “Cliff” Davenport was no stranger to responsibility and certainly not an outsider to the community. Beginning work at the Illinois Bell Telephone Company in 1941, he would later establish dial phone service for Galena, a groundbreaking change that would subsequently allow Galena’s methods of communication and technology to advance to modernity.
