Grant Park court work underway

Work is underway on the basketball courts at Grant Park. East Galena Township funded the purchase and installation of two new goals at a total of $5,000. The township also pledged $5,000 each of the next two years for the court construction. Louie’s Trenching Service is donating the labor for the removal and the installation of the court and goals. The Louie’s crew, from left, Ryan Pregler, Nic Bingham, Mike Somers, Robby Murphy and Jeff Somers, did prep work on the site Thursday, July 12. Bard Concrete is discounting the concrete approximately 20 percent. According to Galena City Administrator Mark Moran, the city may not require the full donation from East Galena as a result of the donations and discounts.
