Every year the students in Melissa Romer’s preschool classes at Galena Middle School study community helpers and make special thank you gifts for the Galena Police Department and the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office. The students are shown with Galena Police officer Keith Brandel when he came to pick up the gifts. Usually the classes take a field trip to the departments and make hand deliveries, but that didn’t happen this year because of the pandemic. Galena Preschool students say thank you
On Saturday, Oct. 10, Galena FFA members participated in the Coleta Trap Shoot put on by the Eastland FFA chapter. From left, Chase Dittmar, Kiera Linenfelser and Caven Stoddard each shot two rounds of 25 birds (clay pigeons) totaling 50 birds. Both Stoddard and Linenfelser shot their personal best, and Dittmar tied his personal best this season. All three did well for their first FFA trap shooting competition, placing seventh out of 10 participating FFA chapters. They will continue to shoot through the month of October.
