CTE Board talks COVID changes

Posted

ELIZABETH–The Jo Daviess Carroll Career Technical Education Academy (CTE) board met July 6 to discuss changes to the academy’s crisis plan as a result of COVID-19.

The annual first reading of updates to the crisis plan changed as a result of the past six months.

“There have been significant changes to the plan,” said Dr. Kris Hall, director of the CTE. “COVID-19 has been added.”

Hall explained that a daily sanitation plan was added and is currently being completed by the custodian.

Daily procedures have also changed, but Hall alluded to the fact that the response to the virus is fluid and that CTE has a plan in place for remote learning. The academy will need to check students’ temperatures when they arrive to the academy. Hall also said hand sanitizer pump bottles were initially put in each classroom and around the academy, but now automatic foaming stations will be purchased.

The faculty handbook will also see a change this year as the date for mandated trainings for staff will move from March 1 to two months after the first day of class. The academy’s student handbook saw no significant changes.
