HAZEL GREEN, Wis.–Rachel L. (Sutter) Berning, 30, rural Hazel Green, Wis., passed away Friday, May 26, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa, after a two-year battle with breast cancer.

Family and friends may call from 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, at St. Mary’s Church, 170 Montgomery Ave., East Dubuque, and from 9:15-10:15 a.m. on Thursday at the church. There will be a Parish Prayer Service at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 1, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, East Dubuque, with the Rev. Dennis Vargas officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.

The Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, is serving the family.

In lieu of flowers, a Rachel Berning memorial fund has been established for Harper’s future educational expenses.
