Sales tax figures for July released by county

GALENA–Jo Daviess County sales tax numbers were released for July and show a rebound statistically for the county.

Overall, numbers are still down for the year, 7.5 percent compared to the first seven months of 2019. That’s a shortfall of nearly $112,000 countywide.

Statewide sales tax figures are down 8.5 percent, equating to nearly $90 million.

The county’s 1 percent sales tax that is used for school facilities is down 18 percent, nearly $40,000, compared to July last year. Galena sales tax dropped 12.6 percent, roughly $90,000.

Community sales tax figures through July, compared to last year are:

•Apple River, down 8.2 percent.

•East Dubuque, down 2.6 percent.

•Elizabeth, down 1.4 percent.

•Galena, down 12.6 percent.

•Hanover, down 30.2 percent.

•Menominee, down 30.7 percent.

•Nora, up 16.8 percent.

•Scales Mound, up 4.1 percent.

•Stockton, down 2.3 percent.

•Warren, down 1.3 percent.
