SCALES MOUND–Scales Mound boys have been caught in a predicament this year, one that they share with Warren students, and that is the question of if they will be able to compete in football. Both districts participate across the border in Wisconsin.

The Scales Mound School Board, at its Monday, Sept. 21 meeting, gave its blessings to football athletes and approved Scales Mound playing with cohorts in Benton and Shullsburg in a new football conference which has developed as a response to the cancellation of fall football. The conference will play six games in the spring of 2021.

Project 2021

The evening began with a special board meeting and public hearing to discuss the transfer of funds from the education, transportation and working cash fund to the operations, building and maintenance fund to pay for Project 2021.

The transfer of $3,965,326 from the education fund, $1,311,736 from the transportation fund and $367,938 from the working cash fund was approved at the regular board meeting that followed the public hearing.

Superintendent Dr. Bill Caron also showed the board a video of the work being done on Project 2021. Caron informed the board that the project has made good progress and is scheduled to be completed by next September.

According to Caron, all of the material for the ag building is at the school and that building will be constructed in the next couple of weeks.
