Scales Mound students quarantine: Fourth and fifth-grade students impacted due to positive case

Posted

SCALES MOUND–The Scales Mound School District enacted quarantine measures for fourth and fifth grade students on Wednesday, Aug. 26. The quarantine is for 14 days. The quarantine is the result of a notification that was received by the school nurse that a student in one of those grades tested positive for COVID-19.

The district is following Jo Daviess County Health Department and Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines. The district has also been working on contact tracing where the student was over the past few days in the school and which students the individual may have come in contact with.

School officials said other students have been quarantined as a result of contact tracing including those who were near the student on the bus. The district used its bus seating charts to determine which students to notify.

According to Dr. Matt Weiderholt, principal, all students quarantining are still participating in remote learning. All other students are continuing as they had the first four days of the school year.
