Stockton School District moving virtual for two weeks

Posted

STOCKTON–The Stockton School District has moved to virtual learning as of Monday, Aug. 24. The plan is for two weeks of learning from home.

The decision stems from an increase in cases in Stockton. Superintendent James Bunting said no one at the school tested positive, but some who have been testing positive in the community are tied to families in the district.

Bunting reached out to the Jo Daviess County Health Department and was advised to move to remote learning for two weeks.

According to Bunting, the first two days of in-person learning went extremely well.

“You would have thought we had been doing this type of learning for awhile,” said Bunting. “Teachers had their laptops working and kids that were at home were all checking in virtually and getting their work done. They were a great couple of days.”

Bunting is hopeful the district will be able to pick back up with the success of the first few days when they return to in-person learning, with permission from the health department, on Aug. 31.
