STORIES IN SONG: Virtual concert plans underway at Galena Center for the Arts: Original songs must be entered by Sept. 15

Posted

GALENA–The Galena Center for the Arts has an exciting new project, generously supported by a grant from the Illinois Humanities Council.

The center will be creating a virtual concert called “COVID-19 Galena, the Story in Song.”

The concert will consist of all new music created by our regional songwriters, about their experiences during the pandemic. The final concert will premiere online in October, and will also be put into a CD format. This effort will be both an artistic and historic reflection of our time in isolation.

If you are interested in submitting your original work, go to galenacenterforthearts.org/songwriters-project to find an application form, details of the project, suggested theme ideas, where to send files, and deadlines.

Artists who are selected will receive a stipend and will record their song in their own place of shelter. Songs must be entered by Sept. 15 to be considered.

You don’t have to be a professional songwriter to enter and this is a great opportunity to put your feelings into music.
