Southwestern School District tightens restrictions on facilities

Posted

HAZEL GREEN, Wis.–The Southwestern School Board decided at its Sept. 9 meeting to only allow the district’s athletic facilities to be utilized for open gyms conducted by Southwestern coaching staff. All participants must adhere to COVID guidelines which include groups fewer than 10 and all must wear masks.

The conversation was a continuation of last month’s board meeting as board members were concerned about people from outside the district using the school’s athletic facilities.

The conversation was primarily directed towards club volleyball and associated tournaments that the district typically holds. There was concern that club volleyball or basketball programs may use the facility and that those teams could involve students from outside districts.

Administration will be in charge of scheduling the gym accordingly.

District could hire nurse

Costello informed the board that he has had discussions with Cuba City superintendent Aaron Olson on the possibility of the two districts co-oping to hire a school nurse.

The board decided to have Costello continue discussions with Olson and to investigate an option to have a third party agency hire a nurse.
