Warren approves e-learning plan

WARREN–Following a public hearing on Wednesday, March 18, the Warren School Board approved the district’s e-learning plan. Superintendent Shawn Teske said the plan was a formality for the state and a step that had to be taken by the board in order for the state to approve the plan.

 

Bus drivers

The board also authorized Teske to renegotiate the bus contract with Illinois Central School Bus in order to pay the bus drivers through the COVID-19 shutdown in hopes that the district won’t lose any when the district returns to school.

The board also:

•approved the fee structure for 2020-21.

•approved the renewal of an agreement with IHSA for 2020-21 for sports.

•agreed to seek bids for lawn mowing for 2020 and 2021.

•approved the renewal of the hockey co-operative which includes Monroe and eight other area schools. Monroe High School is the host school.

•discussed paying non-salaried employees as they normally would be paid during the COVID-19 shutdown. Non-certified staff will work a five-hour day, but will be paid as if they were at school the full day.

•approved the resignation of Kelsie Johnson, girls basketball coach.

•extended the principal contract of Josh Knuth for the 2020-21 school year.

•hired summer custodial workers.
