City moves forward with Restore Illinois

GALENA–On May 29, Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced this region of the state may move to Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois reopening plan.

•Porta Potties on the Galena River Trail and at Gateway Park have been reopened.

•Public exterior restrooms at Galena City Hall, 101 Green St.; the Hello Galena Annex by the Old Market House, 121 N. Commerce St.; and Grant Park are open with restrictions:

•One user allowed at a time in each restroom.

•A face mask must be worn while using the restroom.

•Hand washing with soap and for at least 20 seconds.

•Use a paper towel on the exterior door to exit the facility.

•Physical distancing of at least six feet must be maintained while waiting to use the restroom.

•Restrooms will be open from 8 a.m.-9 p.m.

• Public restrooms will be open at Galena Rec Park beginning June 6.

•Social gatherings in the pavilions and throughout the park are limited to 10 people or less.

•The public may enjoy the park for walking.

•Contact sports such as basketball, volleyball, baseball/softball, are still not allowed.

•Playgrounds remain closed.

•The Galena Water Park/Alice T. Virtue Memorial Pool is closed for the summer 2020 season.
