The Danielle Cline Group, powered by Keller Williams, has partnered with the Jo Daviess County Fair board to give each student a “golden ticket.” The golden ticket is a free student ticket for one-day entry at the Jo Daviess County Fair this summer. The Danielle Cline Group printed and distributed tickets to all of the Jo Daviess County schools. The fair is Thursday, August 3 through Sunday, August 6.

James Fletcher, son of Dani and Marcus Fletcher, completed “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” at the Galena Public Library. With the help of his parents and grandparents (Kris and Dan Escalante), James read 1,000 books. To sign your child up for “1000 Books Before Kindergarten,” stop by the Galena Public Library or email Rachel Lenstra at lenstrar@galenalibrary.org.

Galena School District winners include Ashton Sproule , 17, senior; Gracie Dutlack, 15, sophomore; Emma Duncan, 15, freshman; Maddie Ehrler, 12, seventh grade; Noelle Ottenhausen, 11, fifth grade; and Jenna Nack, 11, fifth grade. The posters from these students will be entered into the state contest. The contest is designed to help young people learn the significance of the Memorial Poppy. Its purpose is to honor the memory of soldiers who died in World War I. The Galena American Legion Auxiliary members judged more than 50 posters.

On Sunday, May 7, the Galena High School class of 2023 graduated among their parents, friends and peers. After the ceremony, all 57 graduates threw up their caps to celebrate the last four years coming to a close and look forward to the experiences to come. Galena held its earlier-than-usual graduation ceremony to facilitate an earlier school closing date to facilitate the construction project at the middle school. In its June 7 edition, The Galena Gazette will feature a special graduation section honoring all of the area’s graduates as well as photos from graduations. Graduation dates for other area schools are River Ridge, May 12, 7 p.m.; Warren, May 19, 6:30 p.m.; Scales Mound, May 21, 1 p.m.; Southwestern, May 21, 1 p.m.; Stockton, May 21, 2 p.m.; East Dubuque, June 2, 7 p.m.
