Galena Food Pantry to repeat revised distribution in April

Posted

GALENA–The Galena Food Pantry will again employ a highly modified format for both of its Thursday distributions in April, to comply with guidelines for COVID-19 coronavirus mitigation.

Distribution will take place in the parking lot of Illinois Bank & Trust on Gear Street, 12:30-4:30 p.m., Thursday, April 9 and 23. Clients will have no access to the bank building and must remain in their cars.

After opening their trunks from inside their cars or handing keys to pantry volunteers, pre-packaged boxes of food will be loaded by the volunteers.

According to Director Tom Van Gelder, “The food pantry board has adopted these protocols to honor social distancing and for the health and safety of our clients and volunteers. We’ll continue to monitor developments as they arise and will post updates to our website.”
