On Thursday, May 25, Galena Country Tourism hosted the first summer Live at the Plaza. Through September, there will be music, food and drinks on Green Street Plaza. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. May’s event celebrated teachers with three giveaways: from the Mud Run Brewery, Hoof It Goat Treks and Arrowhead Treehouse. The next Live at the Plaza will be on Thursday, June 15, and will celebrate diversity and inclusion with special Amazing For All giveaways. Here, people enjoy Birds during the May Live at the Plaza.

On Saturday, September 16, the Galena High School class of 2003 celebrated their 20th reunion at the Elks Club in Galena. There was a total of 60 students in the graduating class and about half of the those Galena grads came from near and far to celebrate the milestone. Julia Pellegrino is the artist of the month at Galena High School. The junior is photographed with her ceramic fish and her tarot card of an anglerfish. Pellegrino said that her inspirations for both pieces are, “my hobbies and interests.” She likes to create art with a variety of mediums such as watercolors, acrylic paints, or clay. She adds, “I like making art that includes my interest of nature, or what else I am interested in at the time.” She thinks art is important because it gives people a needed creative outlet to express themselves.
