It’s construction season and that means work has begun on U.S. 20 again. On Wednesday, March 29, construction workers worked on trenching and replacement of the storm sewers.
Highway 20 construction resumes
The Galena Lions Club recently provided a $500 donation to The Workshop to purchase supplies for educational classes. The Workshop continues to enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities in Jo Daviess County by providing vocational, educational, and social opportunities. Lions donates to The Workshop
The Galena Foundation has donated $24,277.50 to the Galena United Methodist Church to assist with steeple repairs. Arthur Horn, River Ridge FFA chapter historian, and Cora Dittmar, chapter president, deliver food donations to the Elizabeth Food Basket. The chapter hosted its annual food drive the week before Thanksgiving. Students in the elementary and high school donated a large variety of items to help out those in need this holiday season. Elementary students had a grade-level competition in which the second graders collected over 175 items. Paper and food products were used to stock the shelves at the High School “Cat’s Care” pantry and the remainder were delivered to the pantry. In all, over 780 items were collected in this year’s food drive.
