Workers from Sterling Commercial Roofing, Sterling, made temporary repairs to the Washburne House State Historic Site last week. The shake shingles were in deteriorating condition. Many had been blown off during recent high winds. Terry Miller, site superintendent said replacement of the roof was put out to bid three times this year but no bids were received. Last week’s repairs are expected to get the home through the winter months. The project will be put out for bid a fourth time. The goal is to have the roof replaced in the first half of the year.

As a construction crew pours the new Spring Street roadway, another crew works on the concrete retaining wall on the north side of Spring Street.
