On Tuesday, Oct. 4, Galena Cub Scout Pack 93 promised to “do their best” helping Galena Culver’s with a Share Night. Along with $50 in tips, Pack 93 received a donation of $454.45. Tuesday, March 14 was Galena Fusion Share Night. With help from the Fusion Club Volleyball team and with over $150 in “tips” from the public, Culver’s in Galena was able to donate $562.61 back to the team! Several layers of asphalt had to be stripped from the roadway on the eastbound lane of the US Rt. 20 Bridge spanning Small Pox Creek before reinforced concrete could be poured to repair pothole damage. Once the concrete has cured, the lane will be asphalted and work will shift to the westbound lane. Weather permitting, the project should be completed in early August.

American Legion presents certificate to East Dubuque Fertilizer
Mike Simmons, Jo Daviess County Emergency Management Director, hosted a spotter training class on Monday, March 6 at the office in Hanover. Around 40 participants from throughout Jo Daviess County attended to listen to Peter Speck from the Quad Cities Weather discuss the hazards of weather, what to watch in cloud formations, tornadoes and other weather-related topics. The class was free to the public and was very well received according to Simmons.

The Bed and Breakfast Inns of Galena (BBIG) recently donated a check for $750 to the Galena Food Pantry. The Food Pantry is a ministry of the United Churches of Galena and normally serves residents of Jo Daviess County the second and fourth Thursdays each month.
