River Ridge junior Lebron Ransom tried his hand at a drill while at Elkay in Savanna during manufacturing day on April 6. All juniors at River Ridge visited the manufacturer where they had hands-on experiences for all. Students were able to tour the plant and saw the equipment and technology used at the facility. Students were also able to learn about career opportunities at manufacturing facilities including accounting, engineering, sales, human resources and quality control.

On Friday, Feb. 17, the Rotary Club of Galena hosted its Paul Kindig Student of the Quarter luncheon for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The four students honored included Camila Moncada, Warren; Maggie Carter, Stockton; Jose Hernandez, Galena; and Derrick Distler, Scales Mound. The student of the quarter is given quarterly to a sophomore student in each of the county’s school districts who has put forward effort to improve. The student of the quarter honorees from East Dubuque and River Ridge will be honored in April.
